1. IMPROVING THE BUSINESS CLIMATE AND COMMUNICATION;

ABC Foundation aims to improve the business climate by being active within the businesses sector, by engaging in and addressing sensitive and relevant issues.

For the purposes of this goal, the Foundation organizes planned meetings and consultative communications or debates with interest groups, according to their fields and specifics. Furthermore, by recognizing the current developments and concerns of business community, through its collaborative initiatives, ABC Foundation aims to be more concrete and useful in supporting the improvement of small business climate in Albania. In order to achieve more satisfactory results, the Foundation utilizes all possible communications with the public, state or private institutions, which are actively involved in the business sector in the country.

Taking into consideration previous experiences and current needs, some issues that are intended to be discussed and consulted with the business community and microfinance stakeholders are:

  • the most recent regulations of the Bank of Albania on the supervision of non-bank financial Institutions’ activity;
  • crisis, economic phenomena and impact on the microfinance sector, necessary measures to reduce negative effects;
  • creating and further enhancing sustainable partnerships with the local business community in several areas of the country.

It is highly appreciated the frequent consultation between the institutions of Albanian Microfinance Association (AMA) regarding the activities of microfinance institutions in Albania, their impact on the development of small businesses and the growth in employment. ABC Foundation believes that these initiatives and their results will support and lead towards activity extension of microfinance institutions near the business community, in response to their real needs.

ABC Foundation’s support in improving the business climate is concretized through the implementation of "grant programs" oriented towards sensitive areas for the development of small businesses in Albania, as well as for supporting socio-economic development initiatives. The field of local tourism, creative entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship in agribusiness, the development of innovation and technology for business, social business, etc. are some of the fields that ABC Foundation has announced open calls for concrete project proposals over the years, which have been implemented or are in the process of being implemented by civil society organizations or business structures.

 

2. CAPACITY BUILDING, ESPECIALLY IN MICROFINANCE SECTOR

ABC Foundation support capacity building of private entrepreneurship in Albania, small and medium businesses, and in particular stakeholders and partners of microfinance system. Capacity building is accomplished by undertaking research oriented activities, as well as in the implementation of their results, in trainings and promotions, consultancy, etc.

TRAININGS AND PROMOTIONS

In order to support and encourage a better performance of stakeholders involved in the microfinance field and micro crediting of various business entities, as well as to be as efficient and qualified as possible, the training and qualification of respective staff will continue to remain necessary in different periods and a special goal in the activities for capacity building.

Furthermore, based on the objectives clearly defined in the Statute of ABC Foundation, technical and financial support to microfinance stakeholders, for marketing, promotion and improvement of public relations, will remain an important objective in building their capacities.

STUDIES AND RESEARCH

Studies and research are orientated and developed based on fundamental issues of the operation and improvement of microfinance institutions’ activities, the identifications of factors that may stimulate their market expansion, as well as on the socio-economic impact of their interventions, etc.

CONSULTANCY

Technical assistance and various consultancies will be part of the support that ABC Foundation provides to Fondi BESA j.s.c. and microfinance to meet their needs and to have a sustainable development.


3. SUPPORT FOR VULNERABLE GROUPS, CIVIL SOCIETY AND LOCAL STRUCTURES

Supporting vulnerable groups is one of the important missions of ABC Foundation, in full accordance with its strategy. In accordance with its operational capacities and in response to its objectives to improve socio-economic life in the country, the Foundation particularly supports the least protected social groups of our society, or vulnerable groups, as follows:

  • Women and girls;
  • Children, youth and elderly;
  • Roma, Egyptians and other ethnicities;
  • Other groups

The community of women or girls, youth and elderly, Roma minorities or other ethnicities, etc., will be on the focus of ABC Foundation's efforts with the aim to improve the standard of living and encouraging the involvement of these groups in active socio-economic life in the country.

A phenomenon present not only in our country is that vulnerable groups actually possess potential and development capacities that are not fully exploited. In order to activate and revitalize their capacities, these groups need to be informed, organized, encouraged, and exposed to successful and acceptable experiences for them. In this framework, the mission of ABC Foundation is accomplished through the development of concrete initiatives, activities, and projects, specifically for these groups. Through these mechanisms, initiatives, and undertaken projects, ABC Foundation aims for these groups to be more involved and integrated with the rest of the active part of Albanian society.

Training on topics of interest to these groups, encouraging and concretely supporting them with funds to undertake a new business initiative, or to further develop their current business activities, creating new business partnerships or institutional ones, involvement in important national and international initiatives in business sector or socio-economic development will continue to constitute the platform for concrete actions of ABC Foundation for these vulnerable groups.

Regarding business, through "grant programs", ABC Foundation has continuously announced open calls, addressed to pressing issues for these groups, such as support for the elderly, children in need and people with disabilities, giving civil society organizations the opportunity to draft and implement realistic project proposals, in support of improving the socio-economic status of these groups.
